turns out that the Betancourt rescue was a fraud afterall

The actual fraud committed here is the article. There is no proof of paying a “ransom”, even the FARC doesn’t validate that story in their version of events.
And it is very clear the government was willing to pay off anybody in order to free those hostages in particular, which if that was the case, would still be great the whole point was to free them.
you’re a fraud LatinoAmericano. a ransom was paid and you validate your ignorant statement by saying that the govt was willing to pay a ransom
The ransom story was a plant by FARCs friends in Europe to help keep FARC alive (either diplomatically or as their narcotics supplier). Pass just a seed of doubt to the closed-minded conspiracy theorist and boom, they go nuts and carry on for the rest of their lives believing a lie simply because it conforms with their world view, not the truth.
You are funny penguinsex, just because the media tells you something, it does not make it truth. I am far from a conspiracy theorist, but I love the way the brain washed masses like yourself are so quick to lable somebody for having a diferent opinion than yours. Im Colombian,, and I see who much political and financial gain for US, Colombia and Europe was made from this operation. As long as FARC are controling the Narcotrafic to US and EU, Armed conflict in my country will never end. Penguinsex, let me ask you this,,, the USA wants nothing more than to get rid of the FARC and the cocaine problem right????? It has the power to dismantle and take over an entire country, well armed and trained army of over 2 million, accross the globe, pretty much
at will,,, and it cant put a dent on 8,000 poorly equipped and trained peasants, many of who are boys and girls, weak of malnutrition and in a country that welcomes the US more than any other country in the western hemisphere???? If they wanted to end it, they could do it in an hour. Ask Senator Mcain ( a former negotiator for the contras and sandinistas) what he was doing in Colombia the weekend of the release of the American hostages, shouldn’t he be running his Ass kissing campaign on a very tight presidential race in US?? what the F is he doing in Colombia for 2 days the weekend of the hostage release? penguisex,, the FARC held betancourt for 6 years, she was their trophy hostage, they wouldnt just OOOOps, hand her and the Americans to a non Farc helicopter by “trickery”,, come on now.
i suggest you stop having sex with penguins
it may bring more clarity to your vision
Not even the FARC accused the govt. of paying for a “ransom”, and as explained by the same Colombian government they would have rather paid than doing this operation, it would be a greater humiliation to the FARC. The government has very publicly offered money for the capture of a lot of these ranking officials, so it is no secret they would love to do it. In this case, they simply caught the FARC unawares.
No matter, the FARC is on the run and news reports are that Cano was wounded and possibly el Mono Jojoy is almost surrounded. Hopefully these people will stop terrorizing the Colombian people.
