ABC: Kupka’s been waiting since 1998 for news on whoever killed her sister. And this week, police are hoping they’re closer to finding an answer, searching beneath the cement floor of a business on Liberty Avenue in Jamaica.
And for years, Persaud’s relatives owned a business at that address. Police asked to search, but they were never allowed. Now, the business has finally changed hands.Rudy Persaud, still married and now a dentist in Tampa, Florida, did not respond to Eyewitness News’ request for a comment.

CBS: In the weeks before her disappearance, the main topic of conversation was always the mysterious new man in Kristine’s life.
According to the Kupka family, she and Persaud didn’t date while he was her teacher. But when the semester ended, the relationship began.
“The guy is intelligent and good looking. That appealed to her,” says Kristine’s mother.
Her sister describes the relationship with Persaud as a “crush”, saying it was “initially not a big deal.”
But when she brought him home to meet her roommates, not everybody was as taken with Persaud.
Ozlem Ackadag was Kristine’s close friend as well as her roommate. She says she had an immediate distrust of him: “He is good looking. But his eyes…his eyes are really cold.”
If that was true, clearly, Kristine didn’t see it. And in the summer of that year, Kristine told her friends and family what she thought was good news: she was pregnant with Persaud’s baby.
But according to Ackadag, Persaud did not want any involvement with either Kristine or the child.
Ackadag says the reason was, in part, cultural. Persaud and his family are Guyanese immigrants; his father is a Hindu priest. He reportedly told Kristine he would be disowned and kicked out of the family home if anyone found out about the pregnancy.
“He just went crazy and said ‘No, it’s going to ruin my family. I want nothing more to do with you,’” says Kristine’s mother.
But there was something else that took Kristine entirely by surprise: Rudy Persaud was married.
Says Kathy Kupka, “She was so shocked when he told her he was married. It was shocking. We were all shocked.”
Ackadag says Persaud tried to convince her to have an abortion, adding, “it didn’t make any difference how much he ranted and raved, she was going to have this baby with or without him.”
There was one thing she did want from Persaud. “She was very clear that she was going to put Rudy’s name on the birth certificate and that he might be responsible at some point when she went to law school for helping with money,”says Kathy.
And that, Kristine told her friends, made Persaud absolutely furious.
“I spoke to her four days before she disappeared and she said ‘if anything happens to me, it was Rudy who did it. Just go to the police, because Rudy did it to me,’” says Kristine’s friend Suzie Riordan.

He is watching his legacy being destroyed for power and money. In the Hospital in Florida Guruji told his family that he has thousands of dollars at his office at the Bhuvaneshwar mandir. He promised that once he got back to New York, he will repay the $50,000 (US) the family paid to charter a plane to bring him from Guyana. Why was the family been kept out of Guruji office for over 12 days after his death? The money was all gone. Guruji’s computer vanished without a trace. His personal clothing was all stolen. All his personal records and writings went to the thieves. When the family finally got to his office nothing was left. Even his under wears were all gone. Do you thrust them to upkeep our Guruji’s work and legacy? Devotees we must not let this hypocrisy go on any longer. We must let them know ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

The girls are wonderful and they each hold a personal and professional relationship with each patient making it more comfortable for patients. Dr.Devicka is better off by herself without that husband of hers, she is a great doctor and if her Pratice keeps improving at this rate, I cant immagine how much of a great foundation she’d build.

Her husband and staff on the other hand are rude and nasty. This is unfortunate for the patients…and Dr Devicka. She tries very hard to accomadate her patients as she did with me once but hadn’t to much say once her husband is in the picture and is trying to run the show. I agree with the few other posts…she should fire him… and the staff that he allows to treat patients like crap while they don’t know a lick of english!

For my visit she was extremely unprofessional and rude, her staff is extremely rude and I needed a referral and it only took them two weeks to have that done. ( I was no longer in the state it was of no use to me)As a patient you are expected to be treated with respect and not humiliated by a doctor. I hope Dr. Persaud remembers that she needs to abide by the Ethical Code of Conduct for Health professionals because I can almost guarantee that one day some of her patients will report her to the medical board which would not be the best thing for her and her unprofessional husband and staff.

I paid $150 cash.Then in September i get a bill from ‘Shiel lab’ advising me that i have an outstanding bill and if i didnt pay they would ruin my credit standing. I was totally SHOCKED.I didnt know what this was about as it was the first time i had received this letter. Then I saw that the invoice had an incorrect postal address with my name. Called Shiel lab who said tests were requested from Dr. Persaud. I was never told that I was going to receive this bill and my friend who advised me to go to dr Persaud told me that she had never ever received a bill like this before and she paid cash like i did. My husband called Dr Persauds office. The receptionist was very rude and said “Its your responsibility so pay it!” Dr Persaud’s husband then came on the phone shouting at my husband and hung up on him. They did not even bother to ask the patient’s name or apologize for their error.I left my number for Dr Persaud to call me but she never did.

Thank you, I am grateful for her.

I was however, apalled at her husband the PA – who has a complete lack of regard for patients and only seems to want to bill cash for his own self. He has no regard for the professionalism of his wife and she should fire him from the office!

I went to see her because a gyno problem, and she make me take 2 test (and charge me for them) that I did not need, plus I had to go to see her 3 times in order to get the right medication. She was at least one hour late each time, and in order to get an appoiment I had to fight with her staff, because they ALWAYS are booked. I felt treated like a CLIENT, not as a PACIENT.

She charges you for extra medical services which she prompts you to take in her office, unrelated to the initial reason you’re there. My mother took a blood/pap test there a year ago. She called shortly after for the results, they didn’t have it. A year later we still havent gotten the results. Not too long ago, my aunt went in because of stomach pains and was told she had a stomach ulcer. Dr.D.Persaud didn’t even touch her stomach, take her temp, check her heart rate, NOTHING. She jsut heard what my aunt said and then diagnosed that it was an ULCER. Devika is useless. My aunt had to go to another doc, get a sonogram and it turns out it was she had inflamed tissue. I swaer these people are really doing GUESS WORK. I DO NOT reccomend her. Her husband on the other hand is quite good. The Staff there are RUDE and mean, and don’t even speak proper english.

851070 Click to report rating 4/2/09 1 3 1 1 I am very dissatisfied with my visits to Dr. Devicka Persaud’s office. No longer a patient. First I had to wait a month to get a referral for an MRI. Staff blamed the insurance, but they did do their work. Staff did not follow up with insurance until I made inquiries. Horror of all horrors, Dr. Devicka Persaud, prescribed, Athrotec, an arthritis medication, 60 tabs, $200. for me, and I do not have athritis. It gave me bleeding gums, ulcerated stomach and overall lethargy. Made me sick, sick, sick. And she could not be reached by phone for advise. Then she referred me to a brain surgeon for a wrist injury. When I visited his office, after making an appointment, he told me I was in the wrong place, and referred me to a real wrist surgeon. And he billed GHI for the four minutes I spent in his office. He should have billed Dr. Devicka Persaud, she sent me there. How can I trust my health to such a doctor? I will never go back there or refer anyone else. Her staff is ineffcient and rude.

They don’t spend the time to talk to their patients, they are always rushing them out. The desk workers are rude and unpleasant. When you call for an appointment they always say they are booked, you could be dying and you cant see the doctor. The doctor’s husband, the cock-eyed man, always give wrong results so patient’s can pay more money to redo the test.

It told me I had something that I really did not have. She does not see all the patients and has another doctor in her office.

For example she forgets to write pescritions and when you contact her office, the staff is very unprofessional and not very helpful. No calls are returned. KEEP IN MIND THAT PATIENT’S HEALTH SHOULD ALSO BE IMPORTANT. I am sorry once you are out of her office, no one cares to help you. It is apparent that they say one thing but do another. Mr. Persaud, the male doctor is very neglient. He actually misdiagnosed a patient. When I insited that Dr. Devika Persaud examine the patient she came up with something else. This shows a complete lack of professional work. Everyone from the office needs to get together and serve the patients and that is not what is being done. The waiting time is ridiculous. NOTE TO ANYONE THAT WANTS TO GO THAT OFFICE…MAKE SURE U ASK ALOT OF QUESTIONS. It is your health and you deserve answers. That is why they are there.

She needs to understand that it’s not about how many patients you see per day but the quality of care that you give. Don’t keep appointments waiting over 3hrs before tending to them, if I wanted to wait that long I would just go to an emergency room.

She very throughly explains things to you if you don’t understand your condition. If you need a change in you prescription, she never hesitates to help you out if she can. Her waiting period isn’t that bad, but whose is good? Most likely any doctor that you will go to see will make you wait for a period of time. I recommend her for any woman seeking an OB/GYN..:)
