Ok so what does going back and getting arrested accomplish?
I have been questioned two times in the last twenty four hours by the Guyana Police. On April 29th 2011 at about 3 p.m two police officers came to my work place and I voluntarily gave them a statement. Four detectives came at 10.45 a.m on 30th April 2011 at my home and took me to the Brickdam Police Station for questioning. When the police came to my office, they said I am under arrest and that I am wanted at the Brickdam Police station. I asked them what they wanted me for, and they just shouted “come to the station”.I told them to give me a minute to put on my shoes, and one of the policemen followed me into my bedroom to see that I put on my shoes.
When I arrived at the Brickdam Police station I protested my arrest to the detective there and he politely told me that he is investigating the refugee matter I won in Canada.
He questioned me about certain individuals and I told him I do not know those individuals. During his interrogation he called a few times on his cell phone to someone for further instructions.
He placed me in an office and said he has to make a phone call. After one and a half hour waiting they said I can go.
This is a clear case of police harassment and it has political motives. Clement Rohee, the Minister of Home Affairs said whenever I returned to Guyana, the police would questioned me about the refugee case.
Rohee has carried out his threat. He is using the police to carry out the harassment on me.
During the interrogation the police questioned me about my client, why should I disclose my client’s business with the police?
The police were so stupid to ask me if I made those statements against the Minister, they are now trying to switch the roles of counsel and client.
It appears that the interrogating officers were at a lost and were just carrying out the instructions from a senior police officer and the Home Affairs Minister.
The Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee has publicly threatened me and this was reported in all the print and electronic media in Guyana.
Guyana is no democracy instead it is a police state. The ruling politicians are using the police to carry out their own selfish motives and the police is getting the bad name.
It is time for the police and army personnel to stop taking orders from these corrupt politicians and get on with their business as true professionals and serve the people of Guyana in accordance with the Constitution of Guyana. This is the only way for the police force to earn the respect of the Guyanese nation again.
Fear is stalking the land of Guyana and people are afraid to speak out because of the vindictiveness of the government.
The public and the world at large now have the proof why my client and his wife refused to report the brutality against them by the Minister of Home Affairs.
It is strange that these so-called opposition leaders, civil society, trade unions and others who are claiming to champion the cause of Guyanese are quiet on this matter.
These so-called champions of democracy were also quiet when allegations were made by my clients against the Minister of Home Affairs at the Refugee Board in Canada. These are serious implications for Guyana and all its citizens.
Is it because that it is not they are being harassed personally that they do not care? If that is the case it shows the selfishness of these people who wants to get into power.
Here is a case where the Minister of Home Affairs, who is in charge of the police is using the police to harass a citizen just because this citizen act as counsel for the refugee claimant in Canada.

Rohee cannot harass my clients anymore thanks to the generosity of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Now the Minister is using the police to harass the counsel for the refugee claimants.This is Gestapo style government that is being practiced in Guyana.
What happens to me can happen to others and it is happening to others but people are scared to speak out.
I am repeating again for Mr. Rohee, I never made any allegations against you, or anyone to the Refugee Board of Canada, all I did was to present my client’s case and argue why he should be granted refugee status. The Board accepted my client’s claim as valid and said my client was credible.
