Dear mam: we would like to bring to your attention the case of one Cheddi Berret Jagan II who has been practicing law without a license and misleading the public for a number of years.
The gentleman has a degree in law but has never been admitted to the bar in any jurisdiction. However for the past few years he has been passing himself off as an ‘attorney at law’ and signing his letters Cheddi Berret Jagan ESQ. This gentleman has a senior position in the Office of the President in Guyana and is listed as an ‘attorney at law’ and sometimes ‘legal adviser.’ At government functions and events he is also introduced as an attorney at law. As far as we are aware he has never made an attempt to correct anyone referring to him as such.We believe his actions constitute a serious breech of ethics and think this ought to be further investigated.
below are a few instances where Cheddi Berret Jagan II has been referred to as an attorney at law and others where he himself propagated this myth. since he has been exposed locally he has been at pains to explain that he is not an attorney at law but still signs his name using ESQ
For your further information, please note that the Guyana Chronicle is a government owned newspaper and as far back as March 2011 they have been referring to Mr. Jagan as an attorney at law.

In a letter posted on the ruling party’s Facebook page November 3, 2011, Jagan endorsed candidate Donald Ramotar and signed his letter “Cheddi Berret Jagan II, Esq.”
Mr. Donald Ramotar, like Dr. Cheddi Jagan is a man of modest upbringing and a humble, down-to-earth nature.
