Moussa Dadis Camara is dead! says Foreign Minister Alexandre Cece Loua & General Sekouba Konate

Je peux confirmer que Moussa Dadis Camara est mort

the official word is that Moussa Dadis Camara is recovering well from minor injuries. bullshit! says our source. she’s been in touch with alexandre cece loua [Ministre des Affaires étrangères et des Guinéens de l’Etranger] who was in morocco with dadis camara and probably still is and he’s saying moussa dadis camara is dead. he may have his own agenda but only time will tell. general sekouba konate [Ministre à la Présidence de la République chargé de la Défense nationale] has also confirmed for our source that he heard moussa is dead. he as well may also have his own agenda but we’re on top of it as the hunt for Lieutenant Aboubacar Sidiki Diakite aka Toumba continues.

maybe Kabiné komara is next in line but probably not if the boys with the guns have anything to say about it.

Campaign to oppose obscene nomination of Bharrat Jagdeo for the Nobel Peace Prize

Dear all:

As you must have known by now, Guyana’s President Bharrat Jagdeo has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2010. He and his government’s sordid history of endemic corruption, rabid racism, gross human rights violations, extra-judicial-killings, murders and execution by members of the security forces and the Phantom death squad – acting as agents of the PPP government, of young black men, complicity with convicted criminal and drug lord, Roger Khan, etc., make this nomination an abomination to the ideals of the Nobel Peace Prize and a disgrace to Guyana. Niger Delta farmers sue Royal Dutch Shell

A group of Nigerian farmers are suing Royal Dutch Shell over an alleged oil spill in the Niger Delta region that they say ruined the livelihood of local villagers. The farmers claim that badly maintained pipelines of a subsidiary of Shell spilt oil that contaminated fish ponds and farms in Bayelsa State in 2005. Backed by environmental group Friends of the Earth Netherlands, the farmers took the case to a Dutch civil court yesterday. They are demanding compensation and hope the court will force Shell to clean up the area affected. The company has denied any responsibility for the incident, arguing the leak was caused by sabotage. The court is expected to announce on 30 December whether it will proceed with the case.

Nigeria free of guinea worm according to Dr. Donald Hopkins

After a 20-year battle against a parasitic worm that causes cripplingly painful infections, Nigeria is believed to be free of the guinea worm. In 1989, when the US-based Carter Center began its eradication programme, there were an estimated 653,000 cases in Nigeria. In the last 12 months not a single worm has been found in the country, according to Dr. Donald Hopkins, chairman of the Carter Center’s International Task Force for Disease Eradication. However, it will take two years for the World Health Organization to make it official. People are stricken when they drink stagnant water containing the worm larvae. The thin, translucent worms can grow as long as 3ft and finally emerge by exuding acid that bursts the skin, causing crippling pain for months. The worms are still found in Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and Sudan.
