Four US occupying soldiers ’shot dead in Mosul by ‘Iraqi Police’

At least four US soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter have been shot dead by gunmen wearing Iraqi police uniforms, unconfirmed reports say.
Interior ministry officials said the shooting – which has not been independently verified – took place in the northern city of Mosul.

Rafia Abdul-Jabbar arrested in Amarah

BAGHDAD – Iraqi troops on Thursday arrested the top official in Amarah, a Muqtada al-Sadr loyalist, officials said, drawing swift condemnations from followers of the anti-U.S. cleric and raising tensions as a military operation against Shiite militias got under way.
Rafia Abdul-Jabbar, who also was acting deputy governor for Maysan province, was seized from his office Thursday morning along with a member of the provincial council, a local official said.

Sheikhs Ali al-Nida, Abdul Nour Mohammed al-Tahhan & Mohammed Khalil Hamash killed for working with Americans

A bomb on Tuesday killed Sheikh Ali al-Nida, head of the al-Bou Nasir tribe, which includes Hussein’s family, according to an official from Salaheddin province.

The sheikh was traveling from Ouja, Hussein’s hometown, toward Tikrit when an explosive attached to his sport utility vehicle detonated. He and his driver were killed, and two bodyguards were critically wounded. Read more…

American occupiers massacre dozens in Sadr City

The US-led offensive against Shia fighters in Iraq has reached what could be its deadliest point to date. On Tuesday, residents of the Baghdad neighborhood of Sadr City said a US assault left at least fifty people dead and 130 injured, many of them women and children. A US airstrike was said to have destroyed at least three homes and buried families beneath the rubble.

Bilal Hussein to be released Wednesday by American torturers

BAGHDAD — The U.S. occupiers said Monday they will release Associated Press photographer Bilal Hussein, more than two years after he was kidnapped by U.S. imperialist Marines on bogus suspicions of links to freedom fighters. The occupiers and torturers said they have determined after two years of torture that Hussein is no threat to them and plan on granting him freedom come Wednesday.
